blessed with rain, rain and more rain...

the grass is green, the peonies are full of buds and the much needed ants :)
the myrtle is lovely, the hydrangeas and hostas are looking hopeful.
the weeds are thriving :(

the sidewalks really need to be trimmed.
yet another thing to add to the tada list

I moved the light-filled bird cage to the porch = perfection!
I still want to rehang white curtains... (I like them better) but what I could find in my stash were 4 taupe sheets so that's what I hung up for now.
I have to tell you that this is one of mine and Duanes favorite places to relax.  Once the curtains are up, when we want to sit out there we don't pull them entirely closed but we close them partially and let me tell you, it feels like a bit of a childs hideaway for adults! Like having a fort or tent on the porch!
The secrets out... sometimes I want to be a bit of a recluse and not mingle with everyone that walks by on our sidewalk.  In my defense, it's a pretty busy sidewalk!

And...o.k. I cheated on the seat cushions, I have yet to make them so I reverted to my old ways and wrapped them in material, this time sheets, so that it's easy to change them and wash them.

well that and because I haven't found time to sew new ones.

So even though we are being blessed with more rain than we can handle in places...
we are blessed to be warm and dry snuggled up in our home.

My prayers go out to the victims of the horrible storms in Joplin Mo. and all of the other communities in the neighboring states and their precious people who have had to experience the devestation.

much love,
Theresa xoxo

  1. The porch looks awesome! I like the taupe. It brings it out against the white of the gingerbreading. If you do want white sheets, Walmart has them for 5 bucks apiece. I just got some for an upcoming project that I am so geeked to start!

  2. your porch is beautiful Theresa
What a fabulous getaway right at home.
Um, could you please send some of that rain back my is so dry here

  3. Hi Theresa,
I love your porch (both of them actually). We have a very small front's covered but you definitely can't fit any chairs on it. Most of our outdoor time is on the back patio.
Glad you're getting the needed rain. The heartbreak in Joplin is overwhelming. We live 3 hrs. from Joplin so the local news is continually covering the story. One sad story after another. We had tornado warnings today, luckily nothing materialized.
    Take care.

  4. T, Your grass looks beatiful against your oh so pretty porch. Just gorgeous!! Theresa, Garden Antqs Vintage

BTW, Blogger isn't recognizing me today for some reason?

  5. I'll be over tomorrow for a glass of lemonade on your lovely porch!

  6. Cozy, comfortable, paradise!! LOVE it!!! Wish my porch were big enough for my own "tent getaway..." TFS Smiles & Hugs, Robin

  7. I love the idea of a grown up hideaway! And your porch looks like just the perfect place to share a few moments of peace...and watch the rain, rain, rain. Blessings to Joplin and prayers for all who have been touched by this disaster...take care and keep dry!

  8. Your porch hideaway is wonderful and the grass is so green! We don't see such brilliant colors over here. The heat today is stifling at 108. So glad for the weekend. My to do list only includes the things I don't really want to do, like cleaning. :/ Hope your day is great. Tammy

  9. Someday I'm just going to be sitting on your porch and you'll be like, "who pulled my curtains?" It looks so inviting!!!

I'll even make you some cushions in exchange for a hidey hole. LOLOL

    No - I'm not a stalker... hee-hee

My prayers are going up for everyone who has been touched by this crazy storm season... and I am so glad that you and yours are safe and sound!!!
