the one filled with shameless giveaway plugs... and another wax collage...

It being White Wednesday and all I thought I'd show one last wax collage. This one is titled Dear
Iva. I imagined that during this company picnic two women bonded and shared stories of love and life. The postcard at the bottom is one I found and instead of using the front of the card I loved the letter on the back and wanted it to show. The clock shows that their friendship stood the test of time. If you look closely at this photo you can see that when you use wax to collage it makes the paper somewhat transparent. If you don't want this to happen simply photocopy the paper you want to use or try putting a piece of plain white paper behind it.

See you can still see the music paper behind the photo. Just look at this little girl with her dog. Oh my gosh she is so cute! I wrapped the outside edge of the canvas in the backside of a vintage tape measure. ( the same one included in my giveaway... shameless plug!!!) I like the texture that the grosgrain ribbon and vintage white buttons adds to the piece, all added with wax.

Here is another example of what blogging and etsy have added to my life... fancy packaging! I know for me when I have received a package that is thoughtfully wrapped, even if I purchased it myself, it feels like a special gift. This is one of my recent sales all ready to be boxed and shipped to its new owner. I love adding a special little touch to my sales. Ofcourse if you win my giveaway I will be Prettying all of the goodies up just for you!! (yup another shameless plug!!) I know, I am truely pathetic!

So after my bird pillow, I tried Jeanines trick of running the fabric through the printer and I gotta say I LOVE IT! The results are close to screenprinting and so the kids and I were playing around with it this weekend. John and Cam were looking up bands they like and making patches of their logos and Danielle made an image to add to a journal she is making.

I love when they get as excited about a new art form as I do! These are two that I copied off so that I could turn them into pillows but alas my sewing machine died this weekend and when I took it to the quilt shop in town to have it fixed our local fix-it man informed me that it would cost as much to fix as to buy a new one. I have no idea what I did to it but now I'm on the lookout for a replacement. I need a machine, I feel like every new idea and all of the home decor stuff I want to do needs to be sewn. ofcourse. :(

So as not to end on a sour note... Look at these amazing sheep from Graphics Fairy! They need to be a pillow!
I'm linking this up to and to The Boardwalk Bragfest thank you girls for the fun parties!
If you haven't entered my giveaway yet come on over and see what your missing! (3 plugs in one post, can you believe it?)
Thanks for stopping by, Theresa xoxo

  1. Beautiful collage that also tells a story, very creative!
    Happy WW,

  2. Nothing wrong with shameless plugs! Love all the artwork. I am going to have to try the fabric idea. How cool is that? Thanks for all the info!

  3. I just love your wax collages. To take a class would be fantastic but your tutorial is very helpful in it's place.

I have had packaging on the brain too, I am supposed to do an art show on Mother's Day. I'd love to be able to wrap up my pieces in a pretty package.

How fantastic that your boys are into the printed fabric. Just goes to show art can affect everyone as long as you're open to it.

  5. Hi Theresa,

Stunning collage I have never tried running fabric through the printer but am blown away by the effect you have achieved.

  6. Theresa,

Plug away girlfriend. the only bad plug is a hair plug...(oh even I think that one's awful) ;-) It's so exciting to get a new machine, but mildly daunting with all the choices out there. Hope to see your creations soon.

  7. i am in love with these pieces.
You have put so much time and effort into the work and the story.
    Happy White Wednesday

  8. Oh my goodness Theresa,
Your wax collage is just beautiful!!! You are so very talented. I bet that was so much fun to create.
    Have a great day!

  9. Theresa ~ That Dear Iva Collage is Beautiful, I also learned a lesson from You about Pretting Up the Packaging..... I just sent out a few things yesterday that sold & I felt guilty, not pretting them up - I must admit, I was rushing to get to the post office ~ But I Must Make the Effort..... BTW, what type of printer do you use, I need a new one & would love to get one that I know can print....
Have a Wonderful Week, I hope your half of the state is getting some Sun (I missed that big storm yesterday, how about YOU???)

  10. Wow Theresa! All the details in your collage! I love the clock on there. it really does add a special touch....& that postcard! So cool! And I totally love your package! I love wrapping gifts. I love buying pretty wrapping paper but yours....well yours is GORGEOUS! What a special touch!

  11. Theresa, you've really got my creative juices going. This wax art is so interesting. I'm not sure how you do it (therefore, I'm going to research your blog and find out), but is is a wonderful art form. I also am so happy that you had good success with printing on the textiles. I've never tried it, but now I will. What a great and informative post. Thank you for sharing on the boardwalk Bragfest!

  12. Sorry about your machine. I hope you get it repaired soon. I need to see the sheep pillow! Love your ideas.

I hope you'll drop by AtticMag this week for our Giveaway!

  13. Yay! Great job with the printing on fabric! =) I really love your first two photos - such great vintage looks. And that sheep images you found is AWESOME! You could get lost at The Graphics Fairy and now I'm off to find that image too!

  14. Beautiful was collage. I love seeing art that incorporates old photos and writing. Even without know the story, there is history there and one can just imagine the life behind it. Love your pretty packaging. That is definitely one thing I've learned in this world of blogging. Everyone seems to prettify everything! I need to get to work on that. Organization is not my strong point (although I seem to fool people in that regard). I call it organized chaos! Have a great day! :) Tammy

  15. Hello Theresa, Thanks for stopping by today. I do hope the weather dose warm soon for you. It is always nice to get out in the garden to putter around. Have a great day..Julian

  16. Love the new art work!!! Nothing wrong with the plugs!!!

  17. Plug away. Girl, you aren't saying anything that isn't true...major talent!

  18. Another great wax collage. I love the clock face and the handwritten letter on this one.
Sorry to hear about the sewing machine. I hope you can find a replacement soon.
Isn't printing on fabric fun? I love how the finished product looks! It can be addictive.

  19. Your collage is just gorgeous!
