art prize ~ round two

Here are a few more of my favorite pieces from our field trip to
Art Prize...

This piece was called Mother Earth.
Each of the dresses are hand felted wool.
truly amazing.
crazy cool.
I was mesmerized.

loved watching him work, he spun his canvas around and painted from every angle.
so cool.

This man created sand art... a new piece everyday of the contest.
We first saw him sweeping up from the day before and then
before we left we checked in on him and this is what we saw.
amazing.

This entire piece was created with a splatter paint technique.
crazy amazing.

OK I better stop now, I have overused the word AMAZING
enough for one post!

Seriously, there is so much talent all in one city until the 9th and we only
saw a fraction of it and we were there for 7 hours walking through venue after venue.
So we are talking about going back!
I was talking to a friend of mine today and she went over the weekend,
and as we were comparing notes, we didn't even see the same artwork!

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Art Prize
as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you...

love,
Theresa xoxo

art prize...

Grand Rapids holds an amazing event called
Art Prize
Thousands of artists come from all over the world to compete.
Duane and I took the kids today for a family field trip.
(meaning we took them out of school for an important addition to their education)

I am so glad we did, it was incredible!

I'm just going to show a few of the pics that I took today.
I still need to go through the over 200 that I took.

ball point pen drawing

paper pulp sculpture

wool felted gown... mother earth ~ more of these to come

who doesn't love a cowboy?

gorgeous polar bear oil painting

gorgeous sculpture and mosaic piece

amazing hand made paper sculpture.

So many pieces were indoors so the lighting was a challenge
but I really thought you should see
the incredible talent that I got a peek at today!

If you live anywhere nearby, you really, really must go to G.R.
before this ends on Oct. 9th
you will be so glad that you did.

I just shared a few of the mostly white pieces that I loved,
wait until I show you some of the other pieces that blew my mind!

love,
Theresa xoxo

honored...

It has been a wonderful few days for me over here @ 612...
I have been featured by two girls that I respect so much!
They are both incredibly talented,
with beautiful blogs full of inspiration.

I always leave their blogs wanting to create something
or resisting the urge to redecorate my whole house!

for the love of old...

 falalalala

How cute would you be as a cheerleader for halloween :)

date night?

I'm thinking that these would look great on your porch filled with a fall mum...

these panels would make a fabulous bag or pillows!

we had a few raindrops today, how about you?

these boots were made for walkin...

You thought I was talking about my age didn't you?

soon to be listed at

The Old White House

just as soon as I get home from work, make dinner, make lunches,
check homework, read a story and tuck people in.
you know, in my spare time!

Can I get an AMEN from the mom's out there?

love,
Theresa xoxo

playing around...

I stumbled upon this pin today...

which led me to playing around with my camera again.
I haven't been very happy with the way my pictures have been turning out
and so this was a very welcome break in my organizing
and cleaning frenzy.

very welcome.

favorite fall boots.

small gourds that I bought at the farmers market on Saturday.
wearing favorite fall boots.

crazy growth on tree in front yard.
yes, you needed to see that.

I know that I just showed you this 2 posts ago,
but honestly didn't you need to see it
again in a much clearer version?

too early for a white turkey to make its appearance?

o.k. sorry for the dark photo, but there is no window anywhere near this bathroom wall
and I wanted to show you the wire heart that I made
when my brother Pat taught me how to weld.
WELD!
I was entrusted to hold a very hot and dangerous tool people!
that is a huge deal!!!

O.k... hopefully I will remember everything I learned today
and you will be seeing some better photos from me!

love,
Theresa xoxo
