bottled stories...

vintage love...

I spent most of the week on the computer
absorbing all of the info that I could to grow my business,
applying to art shows for this season,
and digging through receipts for our taxes.

(last minute... who me?)

with a scrapbook of vintage photos as my muse,
I sat down this past weekend for some much needed creative time,
and created bottled stories.

vintage photos, beads, buttons, needle and thread and
a few other trinkets, with a chosen word for
each bottle, helps to tell a long forgotten story.
Okay, a story that I envisioned for them,
one that I created by the pose, or the facial expression
in the photo. A chance to share a forgotten photo,
because we all have a story to share.

These photos are from the same scrapbook that
I made this pumpkin with.

All of the photos look to have been taken
by a budding photographer in college.
Some of them are photos of friends from UofM
 and some from MSU,
which at the time was called
Michigan Agricultural College.
Some are from days at the lake with family
and all of them pull at my heart.

I know that I will be making more of these,
as I still have quite a few photos
that have a story to tell.

Although they will be listed as
pendants with a ball chain for you to wear
around your neck,
I can also add them to a key fob,
for you to hang from your favorite bag.

If you see one that you would like
before I can get the rest of the pics taken for etsy,
(not a lot of sun here lately and I need to get individual shots taken)
just send me a msg.
and I will put up a reserve listing for you :)
$28.00 + 3.00 shipping

GENUINE - sold
IMAGINE - sold
ADVENTURE - sold

Thanks so much everyone!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Sunday!

love, t.xoxo

p.s. If it's sunshiny where you live,
could you maybe send some our way, we could sure use it!!!

weekend update...

My weekend was full.

I spent many hours at my work table
o.k. working at the dining room table because my work table is too messy.

"honesty is always the best policy"
I just heard my mom whisper to me as I wrote that.

(is it really work if you love it so much?)

I hadn't made cuffs in a very long time, but I do love the process so it was a cuff fest @ 612!

All of the photo images are from Land of Nod Studio's
It's an amazing site for some free old photos,
I was especialy drawn to the altered children.
Thank you Deborah!

With the 10 year anniversary of 9/11, I was feeling an even stronger than usual sense of patriotism.
The monument is beautiful.
The stories so heartwrenching.
Our country's finest heroes brought to the light once more.

So because pumpkins are also on my mind and agenda
I came up with one made of ticking with a vintage image of school children transferred on a small flag.

There was also some shopping at the farmer's market....

plus ~  bike riding, grilling, a trip on our riverwalk.

and ofcourse lots and lots of this...

are they adorable or what?

I recently found this sign on Pinterest...

I really need this in my yard!
They convert from swords to light sabers at a moments notice!

I hope you had an eventful weekend as well.

love,
Theresa xoxo

heritage...

I am blessed with a heritage of love.

I come from a strong Ukrainian and Cherokee heritage.  I am proud of the strength and family values that my parents have taught me because of their heritage.  My mom was Ukrainian and my dad is Cherokee and Scottish ( but we only ever heard about the Cherokee side, I think mostly because as kids we thought it was so cool to be part Indian... actually I still do.)

This is a photo of my grandparents (my mom's parents) on their wedding day.
I love Bushie's veil, oh how I would love to see this in color.

I have been gifted with a cd of photos of my mom's family and I thought I would show you a few of my favorites. I am sorry to say that I don't have very many photos of my dad's family and the couple that I do have I don't have a way to share with you.

This is a good example of most of the photos,
everyone laughing and you can just feel the love between them.
The girl with the saddle shoes on is my mom along with a couple of  her sisters, I'm not sure who the man in the photo is. They are in the kitchen of my Bushie's restaurant.
I used to love going there when I was little.  I remember my Uncle Steve putting money in the jukebox and setting us kids up on the counter and getting us a soda.
He called me "owl eyes", nobody else ever did, just him and I loved it.  He passed away when I was very young but those memories are dear to me.

This is my Bushie and my Aunt Sophie
my heart skipped a beat when I saw this photo.
beautiful.

My Uncle Leo and my mom, they were very close and she talked about him with much love.
His life ended tragically and much to early as he was hit by a car on his way back to his unit after coming home for Christmas.  Mom missed him dearly for the rest of her time here.

My mom was the youngest of 11 children and I didn't get to meet a few of her older siblings.
I heard many stories growing up and when my mom and my Aunt Jane got together they were the best entertainment around as they reminisced about their family.
Oh my gosh, once they got started, I didn't want them to stop.  They would laugh until they cried.
I loved those visits so much.

I hope you like the photos, I am so grateful to have them
and am enjoying looking back on where I came from,
Like I said...

 I am blessed.

til next time,

love,
Theresa xoxo
