it's giveaway time!

When my friends Kasia and Monica of
Rustic MAKA
asked me to be part of their small business giveaway,
I immediately jumped in.
They are committed to a wholesome lifestyle by making natural products themselves,
and by supporting and shopping with makers of natural products,
such as myself.

This giveaway is HUGE!

It not only covers some of the natural companies that they have met
through markets and shows that they have attended,
but many other small businesses that they have fallen in love with.

See that array of goodness in the photo?
All of that can be yours if you are the lucky winner!
So head on over to their website

and go to the Journey of Change post,

where you have a chance to meet the other businesses that are included in the giveaway,
and throw your name in the hat!

Good Luck!

last chance to throw your name in the giveaway hat!

I wanted to have a new post this past weekend, but things were pretty busy around here,
so I am reposting this before I draw the winners name tonight!
t.xoxo

First things first...
I want to show off my gift of spring from a dear friend,
I will say right now that those beautiful hyacinths were put on the dresser
just for this shot and cannot stay there... why, you ask?

Meet Oliver.

Hannah found him on Halloween when he was just a tiny thing,
I will say that we were apprehensive,
we looked for the owner,
we actually ended up finding the owner after having him
for over a week.
(after we all fell in love with the little booger)

by the way,
this is how they make you fall in love with them.
Kittens are so adorable and then to top it off, he is a cuddler with a very loud purr.

So Hannah, Max, Oliver and I went to the home that we were
told he probably came from.
Imagine the scene... 2 very sad and crying
children who know that, although they are doing the right thing
by taking the kitten to his owner,
are madly, deeply in love and are clutching him so tightly
that he is lucky to be alive today!
I will cut this short...
the sweetest 5th grade boy who Oliver belonged to,
had 4 other kittens in the garage and
gave sobbing Max a hug and told him he could keep
Oliver because he could see how much they loved him.

Now I was crying.

What a generous thing to do.

Jazz took the longest to welcome him to her domain,
and still pretty much pretends he doesn't exist...

but he even managed to weasel his way onto her beloved pillow!

O.k., back to the real reason for this post...

It's giveaway time!!!

(this pendant has a snippet of a doily that my Bushie made many years ago)

I am going to give one of my followers a custom
pendant necklace.
from my new line in the shop called

snippets of life

I will put a snippet of your treasured item between two pieces of thick glass and using lead free solder, I will preserve your families cherished memories for you.
I have different sizes and shapes of glass to choose from with a necklace made from glass seed beads or a key chain.
A piece of fabric, grandmas apron, grandpas tie, a scrap of the napkin from your first date, a button, a photo, a favorite quote, the possibilities are vast... double sided.

(stolen right from my site's description)

so, you can choose a necklace, key fob, or even one of these bracelets
with a pendant hanging from it!

Hannah and I were at Forever 21 looking for a dress for her big dance,
when I stumbled on the super cheap belts.
Skinny, cheap perfect for the bracelet that I had wanted to make for a while now!
Cut the belt to size, poke a new hole or two in it
with a nail... yeah I'm super high tech over here...
not.
I added a large jump ring to one of my pendants and
strung it onto the belt ~
Waa Laa!

I did find a really great tutorial with detailed instructions
but I knew I wasn't going to go out and purchase
a rivet maker thingy
so a belt was the easy choice.

edit... I just found the great tutorial and wanted to give credit to
and now you can go and check her step by step pics out!

no hand model available so this is the best I could do for this shot :)

Then a few days later, while I was out running errands,
the car automatically pulled into the thrift store parking lot
and I figured since I was already here I might as well go in :)
Low and Behold, they had even cheaper skinny belts!
So I made one in red, and I have a couple of good
distressed brown ones waiting in the wings!

So here's where you come in...
let me know in a comment what you would like me to put in your pendant,
Do you have a snippet of your mom's favorite dress,
or maybe a cherished photo,
or a special medal that you won in 4-h
that you want dangling from your neck?
here's your chance!
These can be double sided, so maybe a special photo on the front,
and a quote or scrap of fabric on the back!

Oh wait, one more thing!
I am at 599 followers,
if I reach 600 during this birthday giveaway
I will pick 2 winners!

you know the drill...
1.  this giveaway is for all of my wonderful followers
so if you aren't one yet
jump on board!
2.  let me know in your comment what memory you would
want preserved under glass.
3.  for one more chance,
"like" my facebook page ~ The Old White House

There you go!
easy peasy, right?

I will pick the winner on Monday 3/12/12

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you
who stop by and let me ramble on and on at you,
and leave me the best comments!

Plus, like I said a couple of posts ago,
what's a birthday party without a goody bag or two?

Theresa

and the winner is...

so lets's just revisit the title "this day has gotten away from me"
but add this WEEK has gotten away from me!
before I knew it, it was SUNDAY!
how did that happen?

 without further adieu...

I love how Hannah put the bucket way up high so that she couldn't see any of your names,
even though she doesn't know any of you!
(such an honest Boo)
That's our "faithful dog Jazz"  looking on... really, that's what Duane calls her!

ohhhhh did you notice that we moved the metal glider to the porch in place of the wooden bench?
There it sat in the yard with nobody sitting on it, rocking the day away and one day I had an epiphany and grabbed Hannah, and her and I brought up the glider and the two matching chairs.
I will take a pic of all of it and its fabulousness when the sun shines.  We're hoping
that tomorrow is THEE day!

I'm not very nice teasing all of you like this am I?!!!
o.k. drum roll please...

CONGRATULATIONS TRICIA!!!

Thank you everyone for playing along and for all of your sweet comments.
Truly, they mean so very much to me...
as do all of you.

TRULY.

I mean it.

I wish I could give a g.c. to each of you, but never fear, there are more giveaways
on the way in the near future... I just love giving back to all of you for the
love and support you have given me!

This week has taught me a valuable blogging lesson...
never, and I mean NEVER ever say you will be listing things on etsy and showing them on the blog,
BEFORE you check on the weather.
I have been making oodles of soldered pendants but haven't been able to take
any pictures because we have had so much rain and even more cloudy days.

I have been told that we are going to see the sun for more than an hour tomorrow.
*fingers are crossed*

oh I don't need the sunshine to show you these!
I worked on a new business card using Picnik
what do you think?
Sepia or Black and White?

inquiring minds want to know...

Thanks for stopping by!

love,
Theresa xoxo

p.s.  Blogger has been such a booger these days...I have tried to leave comments on some really fabulous inspiration in blogland only to have to sign in over and over without being allowed to comment.
I know some others have said that they were having trouble too.
I sure hope they get all of the bugs worked out, because it just feels awful not to be able to tell you just how
FABULOUS
you all are!!! xoxoxooxoxo

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

today seems to have gotten away from me...

You know the kind of day I'm talking about.
The kind where you just keep washing clothes but the pile doesn't seem to get smaller?

In between doing laundry
I did manage to get some new soldered pendants done.

after I made a pendant with the top portion of this photo, I spied the bottom half with the couples feet in my scrap pile and said... 'wait a minute...'

me+you=bliss

is the back.

These photos are from an old photo album that I bought at a garage sale two years ago.
I decided to break ot the big guns for the new pendants and these are the original
photos.  So these are of course OOAK never to be remade.
In some ways that makes me a bit sad but at the same time I do love using an original to make an original.

oh to wander the open sea...

I gotta say goodnight~
to tired for chit chat~

thanks for stopping by!

love,
Theresa xoxo

p.s. these will be listed in The Old White House by tomorrow so they can be added to your prize choices!

If you haven't entered the giveaway

Birthday Giveaway Winner!

Thank you everyone for playing along... and for all of the sweet birthday wishes!  I wish I could send a birthday treat bag to everyone, but since I cannot I hope you will all be happy for the winner...

Congratulations Maggie of The White Farmhouse!

I used the random generator to select the winner and put in my numbers, I copy and pasted the code, I tried to copy the picture of the silly thing and alas I still could not get the silly thing to copy on this post for you. ugh. I am calling it a silly thing because I am trying to keep this post G rated!

It has been a wonderful birthday week... besides the special 'date' with Duane, my special dinner with my family, I received some fabulous presents from a special friend here in town, I won Linda's giveaway and get to go to Novica and choose my gift from their store, I received my giveaway pkg. that I had won from Carola a while ago, (please keep her mom and the whole family in your prayers), and a fabulous gardening themed gift from my sister Molly, complete with red converse and a very cool rusty toolbox that I'm sure most of you would all be drooling over!  Well that and how cool I'm gonna look in my new Chucks!  What a great way to turn 50!

So I'm really bummed that I have to post this without any pictures to share but again I am on a "shared/stolen" computer... this time I have tip toed away with Cam's and I can't use my memory card on it.  Can you feel my pain?

Again, THANK YOU everyone for all of your comments and sweet birthday wishes... you really know how to make me feel good!

Have a great night... see you soon, hopefully with a pic or 2 or 3...

Sweet Dreams!

Theresa xoxo

last treat in the birthday bag!

Oh my goodness, yesterday was a busy busy day, so I didn't get to post the last treat for the goody bag,
 so here you go...

The winner will be able to choose a flower from my etsy, The Old White House, any color of your choosing.
If you would like one a bit smaller than the 6" to 7" ones that I have listed I can do that for you... me I'm a bit eccentric at times and like to wear them big!  Really, I wear them all of the time, they go with everything and I swear that whenever I wear one someone compliments me on it.  That always makes me feel good so maybe tomorrow I will wear 2 or 3!  :)

I really have to wrap this up, no lengthy post tonight, I snatched the computer while Duane wasn't looking and he just walked back in the room!!!!!
EEEEEK!!!

So there you have it... the winner will receive the drop cloth ruffled tote bag, a soldered pendant, a burlap rosette, 2 vintage postcards, 1 flower frog and a big fluffy flower for you to add to your favorite spring outfit!

Wasn't that a fun Birthday Party?   Who's up for a little pin the tail on the donkey?

Remember, all you have to do is
* leave a comment on any of the birthday posts
*become a follower if you are not one already

easy peasy, lemon squeazy!

The winner will be announced tomorrow!

Love ya!

what's in the birthday giveaway bag today...

First things first.. tonight was Hannah's special dance at school so I'm going to have a proud momma moment and share a couple of pics of her and her bestie first...

ohhhh isn't she so pretty, I just love this little girl...
she isn't going to let me call her that for very much longer and I DO know that she is growing up but that is what she will always be to me.  Duane calls her "baby girl" and we both call her Boo.

Danielle prettied up her hair for her...

forgive the lighting, it was too late for any sun, not that we had any today!

these two are so fun together, I love their silliness and the laughter that goes on between them!

oh that darn light...

o.k. let's take a break from the proud momma moment and get down to business!

What's in the bag today?

how about a vintage "Hearty Congratulations" postcard?

and while I'm at it...

how about a vintage postcard for your Easter decorations?

and while I'm at it...

I'm going to send the flower frog with them
just in case by some small chance you don't have one of your very own!

So there you have it!

If you haven't thrown your name in the hat yet all you have to do is...

* leave a comment on this post or one of the other birthday posts...
*become a follower if you aren't one already...
* and last but not least have a great weekend!

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

Thank you for indulging me my momma moment...
Enjoy your night, and stay tuned for tomorrows last treat bag post!

Sweet Dreams, Theresa xoxo

p.s. today was not a good day for pics for me OBVIOUSLY but that is how much I love you guys, I just couldn't miss the opportunity to add to the goody bag today, so lets pretend the light is good and they are all in focus, K?
:)
