fall is in the air...

I love this photo of Hannah working the booth. xoxo

As in the last few years, when we attend the year's last Farmers Market at the Capitol,
(where I pick up some of the coolest pumpkins and gourds for our booth and home,)
then you know that summer is officially over.

Good-bye Summer,
Hello Autumn!

I hope that you enjoy all the best offerings of the season!
love,

fall has arrived...

The proof is in the chillier nights and mornings.
The colors haven't changed yet,
but mind you,

 fall has arrived!

I would like to tell you that my home is all decorated for the season,
like in years past, but that would be a fib.
Upon looking for a photo, I came across some from that last couple
of years and thought I would make a collage so that I would
get my butt in gear and maybe add some pumpkins to the porch,
maybe take the scarecrows out of the barn and put them in the front yard.

maybe...

I will take a cue from this pumpkin that I made yesterday
and keep it simple this year.

maybe.

Today will be more pandora;
Etta James, Ray Charles, Adelle, Norah Jones, Ingrid Michaelson,
James Taylor, Cat Stevens, anything old and bluesy.
A little chai tea,
blueberry cake from a sweet friend,
and more pumpkin making.
(oh and throw in some grocery getting too.)

,
This is what happens after a day full of the above,
I go into creative overload
and before you know it
I am adding old photos and charms to a simple gray pumpkin.

(tell me you understand, o.k.?)

Thanks for stopping by!
love,
Theresa

Art Prize is back!

Our booth changes with every show.
When I suggested to Duane that we start taking the china cabinet with us,
the look on his face said it all.
"whaaaaaaaaat?"
It only took a little persuasion for him to 'see' the vision.
I don't think it's coming back into the house any time soon!
Plus we have the sweetest friends,
Denise and Don found this fabulous old, huge ironing board
at a garage sale and not only picked it up for us but
fixed it up to make it sturdy again!
Thanks again you two... you are awesome!

So where are we next?
Last year I told you about Art Prize in Grand Rapids,
here are some photos that I took to give you a small idea of
the fabulousness of Art Prize...

this is made with paper pulp!

incredible mosaic detail for her skirt...

cowboy...nuff said ;)

needle felted by design students...

so what does any of this have to do with us?

The Old White House will be vendors at
Art -2- Art
I am giddy,
 GIDDY,
I tell you!

We will be there every day from Oct.1-6
from 12pm until 10pm
don't have it all figured out on how we will pull that off,
but I think with all of the entertainment
that they have planned in the space we will be having so much fun
that the hours will fly by!
They are having a vaudeville/circus theme,
with live acts on every floor every day all day!
We will be on the second floor with
music and other entertainment every night from 6-10.

GIDDY

can you blame me?
The booth will be full of our natural laundry and cleaning provisions
plus new pumpkins, lots of new pumpkins!

(this one is sold but I have a few grain sacks left...)

I hope you can make it!
Art Prize is an amazing collection
of super talented artists from around the world,
all competing for the grand prize of
$100,000
YOU
get to vote for the winner!

I will tell you, it's a difficult task to find
just one winner though,
the talent is over the top!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
love,
Theresa

spinning in circles...

I am so loving the process of making pumpkins again!
Rosettes and bling and real stems and ohhhhhh
I have so many trinkets and flowers on my table right now!

I'm taking some cinnamon pumpkins to the shows too!

Our laundry and cleaning provisions are just as rewarding to make,
the stamps on the sachets have been my creative outlet for awhile,
and our home smells heavenly!

So where are we headed with all of our goods?

Tomorrow we will be right here on the Capital Lawn for the
annual fall farmers market!  Come see us at booth C19!
We are in the row closest to the building and on the right of this photo...
I am so excited!!!

Then, this weekend we will be here....

Uncle John's Cider Mill!
I took this photo a couple of years ago when we went
here for Max's birthday celebration with the family.
LOVE IT HERE!!!

On Saturday we are also going to be at Hudsonville for the
Septemberfest Arts and Crafts Festival!
How are we going to be at all of these places, you ask?
We are forming two teams of Heins!

Will there be a little friendly competition going on, you ask?
...but of course!

Don't forget that on Sunday we will also be two places,
we will still be at Uncle John's,
and at one of the last Sundays for
Fulton Street Artisans Market!
You can visit their page on facebook...
Sarah went around and took lots of pictures of the booths
last Sunday and posted them to the page.
Thanks Sarah!

WHEW!!!
Gotta get back to the sewing machine!

Thanks for stopping by!

what's in your toolbox?

Why pumpkins of course!

2 more days of busy, busy, business!

My agenda for the day?

Too scary to look at all at once...
(so I just peek at the chalkboard, through my fingers, with one eye shut!)

Have a fabulous day!

Theresa xoxo

oh autumn, I see you peeking around the corner...

,

Once the weather takes a little dip like it has the last few days,
all I can think about is FALL!
I love it,
everything about it...
o.k. raking is not my favorite thing, but the rest of it?

love.
Sweaters, and boots, and apple orchards, and cider,
and pumpkins and fresh donuts from the mill, and the colors,
and the crisp air, and the Halloween costumes, and the candy ;-)

you get the picture.

I love fall.

There I said it!
No season needs to feel slighted though,
because every time the seasons change,
I am ready, and I love the next one making it's appearance!

love,
Theresa xoxo

Is it possible to love argyle too much?

I have always loved argyle.
I know, it's crazy but can you be a preppy hippy?

or how about a lil blue pumpkin?

before you think that maybe aliens have taken over my body
here's one more.

I'm going to keep this short,
my earlier post about the family reunion took up
my designated blog time, but I wanted to share these with you!
The blue and white ones are works in progress.
I can't decide what, if anything, to put on them.
Also, I just finished a grain sack pumpkin.
The sun went down too fast for pictures today though ;)

love,
Theresa xoxo

From one holiday to the next in the matter of a day...

I am smitten with Jeanne de Arc, the simple beauty of the muted colors, the soulfulness of the photographs, the inspiration of simple decor in the homes they feature. They have inspired me to create some JDA like Christmas decorations. I 'invested' in the latest issue and oh my goodness, it is gorgeous! So I took a small break from making pumpkins (one morning off!) and started on Christmas! Can you believe it? Christmas! I am never-ever this early on starting my Christmas wares but this year I am determined to not be behind the eight ball, o.k. the seven ball maybe, but not the eight ball!!
I did manage to dig out the turkey platters today to take pics of the last set of pumpkins for etsy. I love this platter, it has a big crack in it but I put it out every year anyway. So for this set of pumpkins I was able to scoop up a bunch of stems from the pumpkin bins when the kids and I shopped for pumpkins. I'm pretty sure by the look on the cashiers face that she thought I was crazy when I asked of I could by the stems. She felt sorry enough for the children of the crazy lady to just let me have them! I love how they turned out, just a little bit of a twist from my other ones. Thank you cashier girl!
I got this deer from Karen @ The Graphics Fairy. I think he is just so cool, I put the picture on a paper mache ornament and the ruffled some crepe paper and the leather button came from a vintage coat that I picked up on Sun. at an estate sale. The coat itself wasn't salvageable but I was able to keep the buttons and the collar so it was still worth the whole .50 I had to fork over for it!
I decorated the back with scrapbook music paper. I still need to decide what kind of a hanger I want these to have.
I actually got all of these images from Karen, this one I took over to Picnik and turned it sepia and gave it a little bit of a grainy/soft look. I love how it turned out, just what I was going for jda style. This is a vintage prayer card that Karen has for us to use, really just beautiful. Thank you Karen!
This one already looked like it was printed on canvas or fabric, really beautiful prayer card of Madonna, I am happy to say that I figured out how to ruffle crepe paper on my sewing machine for all of these - way better than doing it by hand! I wanted to add a special glistening jewel to the Madonna ornies and they just kind of finish them off.
I put music paper (scrapbook) on the back of these also and on the sides I either trimmed them in velvet ribbon or silver glitter. These will be going in my etsy as soon as I figure out what hanger I want to put on them. for more beautiful Madonna and Jeanne De Arc type treasures you really need to go over to visit Michelle over @ Petite Michelle Louise, she has some really soulfull pinkeeps, scapulars and reliquaries, I have already purchased a few for some special Christmas presents!
This is the latest addition to the pumpkin patch, I had more and some of them weren't even white, but I have sold them locally and Duane likes them so much he has given a couple away! I love it when he gets excited by this kind of stuff!
These have an array of handmade decorations some have wool rosettes, or burlap, one has a wool mum and the white one on the right has a silk/bamboo crocheted rosette with a jewel in the middle. I have more goodies to show you, my dining room table is a good indication of how many ideas are jumbled in my brain! Thank goodness Halloween is over so I can focus on this stuff again! Plus it was confusing the kids that I was singing Christmas Carols while hot gluing them into their Halloween costumes! ;0
I am linking this up to Jan's Boardwalk Bragfest and to Kathleens White Wednesday because well I'm in need of a party I tell you!
One last party... there are some great ideas shared over @ Tea Rose Home thanks Sachiko!
I'm also linking up with Karen's Brag Monday to show her what I was able to make thanks to her generosity.

Thank you for stopping by! Theresa xoxo

White Rosettes for White Wednesday...

And a sweet little silver bird to go with them...
Grain sack rosettes with a perfectly tarnished silver bird from a vintage salt and pepper set with nubby creamy wool leaves sitting on...
the mother of all pumpkins! Truly, I wanted to share something besides another pumpkin today for White Wednesday but my little world has been full of little else! (you should see the dining room table, and if you do, let me know which spot you cleared off!) this is how my brain works, I find something I love making and then I consider what other materials can be used to make more, so as not to get bored making said thing. I try to make every one of them differently by adding a little twist here and there that way I still enjoy the process.
I love that this old grain sack says Oct.1938 on it, perfect for the season don't ya think? :)
The new harvest. I'm linking this up to Kathleen's party over at Faded Charm, come on over and join in the fun, the inspiration from the attendees will blow you away! I'm also linking this up to a great party over @ Debras... The Vintage Inspiration Party! So much inspiration here in Blog Land... it's really amazing to me, the wealth of creativity is fabulous!!

Guess what... today is my one year blogiversary! I cannot believe it! I was really intimidated by the whole idea at first, and now one year later I am so glad I jumped in. I have 'met' some amazing people here and you have all enriched my life beyond measure. I wish I could thank you all personally, but until someone around here wins the lottery and/or becomes a pilot I will just have to send you all hugs from cyberspace! I want to do a little giveaway but I want it to be special and not forced. (which given the whole pumpkin thing it would be... seriously these people here @ 612 have me tied to a chair at the table with a can of wool and stuffing near by, only letting me up to make them food) (send help) :O So I will put my little thinking cap on and come up with something and surprise you all! Mostly I am only telling you about the date because I wanted to tell you all how special you are to me and how happy I am to have you here.

Thanks for stopping by! Theresa xoxo

p.s. I promise the next post will not have a pumpkin amywhere in sight! xoxo

My version of a pumpkin patch...

I hope your not sick of seeing the pumpkins yet, cuz OH MY GOODNESS I have been having fun making some for a local store...
They are so fun to make, seriously fun :) and they are even more fun to decorate! I was on a roll and completed all of these in between work, kids and making dinners. Unfortunately I cannot in good conscience add cleaning the house in there because I did not, and I make a huge mess when I am creating, so my dining room table is covered in wool and doodads and so is the work room, the kitchen table is full of a sewing machine and all that goes with it. So tonight I need to clean up and then...
you guessed it, make more pumpkins! Now I need to make them for their second store! WOO HOO! I hope they sell, the owner seemed to like them, I hope her customers do! I hope to get some finished for etsy too, gotta fill the shop!
Still on the rosette kick too...
This one is loaded with vintage millinery and a cool bird pendant, and it is huge, I made it with the body of the sweater.
An all white grouping, I made a couple with vintage tinsel, love the white and tarnished tinsel together, perfect for the upcoming holidays.
There are so many ways to decorate them, but ofcourse my favorite way is with vintage BLING!!! It's vintage, it's jewels, whats not to love? ;o

So putting on my cleaning music now and gonna try to find the top of the tables and maybe even the floor! wish me luck!!

I am linking up to a couple of wonderful parties so get your party hats on and come along for the ride... Debra @ Common Ground is having her vintage inspiration friday party combined with a fall porch party only a true partier can handle 2 parties at one time!!! Thanks Debra!
Also Cindy from Whimsical Musings is holding her Creative Spirit Challenge, come be inspired by all of your fellow bloggettes!
Also @ Tea Rose Home for her weekly link love party, thank you Sachiko!
If you would like to make your own pumpkin patch scroll down a couple of posts where I posted the blog that has the tutorial.

Thanks for stopping by the pumpkin patch! Theresa xoxo
